The shift from “Perfect” to “Real”
I see so many photographers getting stuck in the cycle of buying every new prop or backdrop. They think a fancy new bucket will save their business, but your clients don’t care about the bucket.
They care about how you captured the way their baby’s tiny toes curled into their palm. They want to remember the sleepy yawns and the way the light hit the nursery window in Hither Green.
My secret to a thriving business is simplicity. I provide a curated wardrobe and gentle, timeless props so my parents don’t have to stress about a thing.
When we strip away the clutter, we finally have room for the emotion.
Safety & Comfort (Critical Section)
The most important thing I can tell you is that your business will fail if you do not prioritize safety above all else. Parents are handing you their entire world, often when they are at their most vulnerable.
I have spent years training in newborn safety to ensure every pose is natural and secure. I never force a baby into a position that doesn’t feel right for them.
If a baby is unsettled or crying, we stop. We take time for a cuddle or a feed, because a happy, safe baby is the only way to get those soulful shots.
I run the session completely so my clients can just sit back, sip a tea, and finally breathe.
A Note for Mums and Dads
If you are reading this and feeling nervous about booking a session, please let those worries go. You do not need to worry about the “baby weight” or your toddler having a tantrum in the studio.
