Stop Booking Newborn Photographers Who Skip Safety Rules

Your Baby’s Softest, Sweetest Days Deserve More Than Just a Pretty Lens

I know how exhausting these first few weeks are. You are navigating sleepless nights in South East London, healing, and falling deeper in love with those tiny toes and sleepy yawns every single day.

These moments are so fleeting, and it is completely natural to want to bottle up this beautiful, blurry magic forever.

But in the rush to book a photographer, there is one non-negotiable we must talk about, heart to heart. Your baby’s safety should always come before a pretty picture.

Why Beautiful Newborn Photography Starts With Specialist Training

It is easy to assume that anyone with a professional camera knows how to handle a newborn, but posing a tiny, fragile baby requires specialist training.

As a trained specialist, I know that a baby’s airway, circulation, and delicate spine must be protected at every single moment during a session.

I love keeping things simple and natural in my cozy studio. You don’t need to stress about outfits or props, as I provide everything we need to keep your baby warm, comfortable, and beautifully styled.

Here is what a truly safe, professional newborn session should look like:

  • Constant spotting: A hand is always inches away from your baby, even if it is edited out later.
  • Never forcing a pose: If your baby is uncomfortable, we stop and change position immediately.
  • Sanitized environment: Every wrap, blanket, and prop is washed in baby-safe detergent before your session.
  • A warm studio: Keeping the room at the perfect temperature to prevent your baby from getting chilly.

Safety & Comfort

You might have seen those popular photos on social media of babies propped up on their hands or hanging in tiny hammocks.

Please know that these poses are never done without support; they are actually composite images created by merging two photos together in Photoshop.

If a photographer ever tries to balance your baby without a spotter, that is a major red flag.

If your little one cries, is windy, or just needs a cuddle, we stop, we soothe, and we feed.

I run my sessions at your baby’s pace, which is why I never rush and only book one newborn session a day.

A Note for Mums and Dads

I know you might be feeling incredibly tired, and perhaps you are feeling self-conscious about being in the photos yourself.

Please don’t worry, I have got you. You don’t need to lose the baby weight or look perfect to deserve beautiful memories with your newborn.

These photos are for your baby to look back on one day, and they will only see how deeply they were loved from the very start.

So take a deep breath, let me handle the details, and just enjoy snuggling your baby in our quiet sanctuary.
